Panchamukhi Hanuman

GG-PT-001

A crowned, multi-armed figure stands centrally with five visible heads, a curling tail and a mace resting near the feet. Several hands hold implements. A tiered shrine-like canopy rises behind the figure. Blue ground, intricate black-and-white architectural patterns and leafy floral borders surround the subject.

The composition.

The combination of five heads, tail and mace strongly supports the identification as Panchamukhi Hanuman. The picture presents the deity frontally for devotional attention. It does not visibly narrate a rescue or battle. The earlier catalogue connected the image with the Ahiravana rescue story; that episode has not been demonstrated in this particular composition.

These readings describe visible features and possible subjects. A maker-confirmed title, provenance, materials and the identities of unresolved figures are not yet documented.
