The composition.

A tall temple tower rises above a shrine containing Jagannath. The tower, flag, blue sky and upright gathered figures establish the correct orientation. The original presentation had been inverted; the product image has now been rotated 180 degrees without changing any painted detail. The round-eyed dark face supports Jagannath’s identification. Above the shrine, the tapering red-and-yellow architectural form carries fine floral and emblem-like ornament. A finial and flying flag crown the spire. Other roof forms appear behind the main tower, with foliage and walls enclosing the setting. The blue upper background contains pale cloud-like curls. These belong to the sky, rather than a river or a water scene below the deity. At shrine level, richly dressed figures gather on both sides. Several have elephant-like heads or prominent trunks. Their individual identities and their precise ritual roles are unverified; they should not all be given specific deity names from this photograph alone. A smaller kneeling figure occupies the foreground and raises both arms towards the shrine or its supporting structure. The exact action and the figure’s name remain unverified. Railings, patterned architectural bands and a lower strip of bird-like motifs organise the base. Dense scrolling foliage and flowers frame the entire painting. This is accurately described as a Jagannath temple scene. A specific temple viewpoint, festival, ceremonial besha, historical occasion or narrative episode has not been confirmed by the maker. No missing architectural or painted elements have been reconstructed. The original source photographs remain unchanged.
